Born and raised in Hong Kong. Willie Tsang immigrated to Vancouver and later relocated to Toronto to pursue a career in graphic design. A growing curiosity in materiality and assembly directed Tsang to investigate creative expression through product design and furniture making. In his practice, synthetics are manipulated into biological forms and natural materials are transformed by innovative design techniques. The interchange between nature and technology continues to be a source of inspiration. A sense of play dominates his production. For Tsang, it is essential that the user connects emotionally to his work and that his product arouses a sense of surprise.
